ABC Midseason Premiere Dates: ‘Idol’, ‘High Potential’, ‘Will Trent’, ‘The Rookie’, ‘Scrubs’ Reboot, More

ABC has set midseason premiere dates for its new and returning series, including the return of American Idol and High Potential, as well as new seasons of Will Trent and The Rookie, and the series premiere of the anticipated Scrubs reboot.

Scrubs, starring Zach Braff, Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke, will launch its first season on Wednesday, Feb, 25 at 8 pm with two back-to-back episodes, taking over the slot left by Shifting Gears, which returns for the continuation of its second season on Jan. 7, As we previously reported, ABC increased comedy Shifting Gears‘ Season 2 episode count from 10 to 13 with an order for 3 additional episodes, making it safe to assume that it would be sharing its timeslot with Scrubs.

American Idol returns for its ninth season, 24th overall, on Monday, Jan. 26 at 8 pm, with judges Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie and host Ryan Seacrest. This season features a twist on Hollywood week, which will move to Nashville with Hollywood Week: Music City Takeover.

Will Trent (Season 4) and The Rookie (Season 8) will again be paired on Tuesday nights with High Potential, which returns for the continuation of its second season.

Hit comedy Abbott Elementary is back with its fifth season Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 8:30 PM following Shifting Gears. Shark Tank will resume its 17th season at 10 PM.

Dramas 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Nashville and Grey’s Anatomy return to the Thursday night lineup on Jan 8.

Celebrity Wheel of Fortune resumes its sixth season at 8 PM on Friday, Jan. 9, followed by 20/20 at 9 PM. And NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC returns for select Saturdays beginning Jan. 24 with the Los Angeles Lakers taking on the Dallas Mavericks.
