‘Big Brother’ Producers Tease Big Change to Beloved Game

Big Brother fans could see a big change to a classic competition that has been part of the show since 2007. In an October 2025 interview with Entertainment Weekly, longtime Big Brother executive producers Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan revealed that fans have missed the “slip and slide” competition known as Slippery Slope, which has been on hiatus for the past two seasons. But the duo confirmed that if the game does come back, there will likely be a change to the format because certain houseguests have always had an unfair advantage.
“I think if we do the slip and slide again, we have to come up with a tweak or an adjustment,” Meehan admitted. ”So that way anybody could win it. …What tended to happen with that game is just the tallest, typically most athletic person would win. So it just became almost a given of who would win that game.”
The EP noted that the game could be brought back with a “team version” that would be set up “to make it more even.” “We do love it because it’s funny, but we want to try to make sure that it’s a game that anybody could win,” he explained.
Grodner noted that she has been asked about Slippery Slope enough times that she thinks it should be brought back with the appropriate tweaks to avoid an “obvious outcome.”
The game, which features the Big Brother houseguests transporting small containers of liquid across a slippery track to fill a larger container, hasn’t been played on the show since Season 25 in 2023, and fans have definitely missed it.
“Did production totally get rid of the Slip N Slide comp??!” one fan wrote on X in September, as Season 27 played out. “I don’t remember even seeing it last year? WHY would they get rid of it, I remember how fun it was watching it play out on live feeds too.”
“Big Brother needs to bring back the slip n slide comp. It was always one of my favorites,” another agreed.
“No Big Brother slip and slide this year so tragic #bb27,” a third chimed in.
According to Collider, Slippery Slope is usually a Head of Household competition. It first appeared on Big Brother in Season 8 and returned for seasons 11, 13-21, and 23-25. The slippery competition often took several hours to complete and features plenty of falls.
Several memorable Big Brother players have won past Slippery Slope challenges. James Rhine, Kevin Campbell, Jeff Schroeder, Caleb Reynolds, Fessie Shafaat, Derek Xiao, Michael Bruner, and Big Brother Season 25 winner Jag Bains all dominated the slippery pathway during their seasons of the CBS reality competition, per ScreenRant.
Big Brother host Julie Chen has long been a fan of the comp. “It was like out of an old school comedy show,” she told Entertainment Weekly of the competition in Season 20. “An oldie but a goodie. Who doesn’t love a slip and slide?”
