‘Big Brother’s’ Ava claims she has a ‘good’ relationship with Rachel, despite calling her offensive names in the house
One day after her elimination from Big Brother 27, Ava Pearl was mostly tight-lipped in her exit interview with Gold Derby. She didn’t trash anybody by name, or ruffle any feathers. But she did make some news when she described her relationship with Rachel Reilly as being “good.” After all, Ava had accused the self-described “BB Queen” of grabbing her arm without permission on the day that Rachel was eliminated via the Mastermind’s White Locust twist.
“Rachel’s a great lady,” Ava tells us. “I think we have a good relationship. I mean, we haven’t really talked since, because she’s been in jury and I’ve been in the house. But it’s good, I think.”
Ava’s answer will no doubt surprise many Big Brother fans, especially considering she was repeatedly spotted on the live feeds calling Rachel offensive names in the aftermath of the arm grab. In one clip, the 24-year-old aura painter from New York City called Rachel a “c–t” and said, “Shouldn’t have pissed me off.”
Ava’s frustration toward Rachel grew after the experienced player grabbed Ava’s arm during the intense White Locust scrambling session on Day 60. Rachel’s intention was to pull the BB newbie into a room and talk with her about the unique strategy of picking players for the maniacal maze, but Ava took offense to being physically touched.
“Don’t grab my arm next time, sorry, Rachel,” Ava later said. Had Ava picked Rachel first to compete in the elimination game, Rachel would have had 6 minutes, 30 seconds to complete the maniacal maze. Instead, Rachel was the fourth person to go, and she failed under the pressure and was shockingly eliminated from the game.
Former contestants came to Rachel’s defense, particularly Big Brother Unlocked host Taylor Hale, who posted on social media, “People are fighting for their lives! Grab! Pull! Dash into a room!” The Season 24 winner added a photo from her season where Michael Bruner was seen pulling Taylor into a room to discuss strategy.
Read on for more of Gold Derby’s exit interview with Ava. The free-spirited former houseguest will return to Big Brother on Sunday night with the rest of the jurors — Rachel, Will Williams, Kelley Jorgensen, Lauren Domingue, and Keanu Soto — to help crown the winner of Big Brother 27.
What was your favorite part of your entire Big Brother experience?
Ava: I would say my favorite part of my entire Big Brother experience was the hot tub in the backyard. It was just a great place to relax.
Describe the mood in the house when you received a message from your boyfriend, but Vince didn’t receive a message from his girlfriend.
Ava: Well, my mood was good, but I don’t know about everybody else. I have no way [of knowing]. It felt like a really good vibe.
You put up three power players during your HOH: Keanu, Vince, and Zach. Do you think other contestants made power moves, or did they play scared?
I think people wanted to make strategic moves, and play it as safe as they could. People definitely made moves, but I think I maybe was just pretty forthright with mine.
What was your dream final two scenario, and what would have been your argument to win?
Dream final two scenario? Probably me and Will. My argument to win would just be, “Hey, I had an HOH, I won some comps, I played a pretty solid game.” I tried to be as chill and loyal as possible the whole way through.
